Kitchens

Kitchens are the focal point of every home. Have you ever noticed when company is over that everyone seems to congregate around the kitchen? It’s important to have a space you enjoy entertaining in, and that brings you comfort every day. On top of that, an updated and functional kitchen can add a lot of value to your home. Let me help you find the perfect new kitchen layout, or to achieve your open concept dreams. From simple facelifts, to entire kitchen gut and renovate jobs I can bring your Pinterest board into the real world.

Home Additions

There are many reasons to add square footage to your room, maybe there’s no space for entertaining, you want to expand a small kitchen, or add an extra bed and bath. Let me help you network with an architect and design and build you that dream home addition! I strive to build all new construction spaces as energy efficient as the budget allows and build for generations to come.

Carpentry

Any custom carpentry from framing, trim, siding, pergolas, garden boxes, fences, built-ins to custom staircases, and custom vanities, just ask we can work something out!

Custom Van Conversions

If I could spend the rest of my life making my client's adventure vehicle dreams come true, that's what I would do.  I’m a traveler at heart and love building out quirky and unique custom van/vehicle conversions for the wayward traveler.

Tiling/Flooring

Tiling is my favorite activity in construction, I like to imagine each job like a beautiful puzzle. Whether that’s just tiling a new backsplash, a front patio, or tiling a whole level in your room, we can do it. Speaking of flooring, I also install new wood flooring, refinish your decades old floors, and install vinyl plank flooring (perfect for that dungeon-esque basement you’re occasionally afraid to go in after dark).

Bathrooms

Second to kitchens, a well-designed and attractive bathroom can also add value to your home. Everyone in your house has to spend time in the bathroom every day, having a comfortable bathroom that you're proud of can make a huge difference for your in-home comfort. I can do a simple flooring upgrade, new vanity and toilet or gut and create a whole new space for you. I make custom shower pans, install new tubs, and use the highest quality materials to build long-lasting waterproof showers that will last a lifetime. Have a space in your house where you wish there was a bathroom? Maybe a second level, or a basement? I can do that too! Adding a bathroom to your house can ease your wait times when the bathroom is occupado, and selling a home with one more bathroom than you bought it with is a great way to drive up the ROI on your home.

Home Energy Retrofits

If you live in Salt Lake and have ever looked outside during winter then you know we have a massive air quality issue in the valley. It’s easy for us to blame driving and industry for those issues, but as of this writing 39% of PM 2.5 particulates, which causes our inversion, are attributed to existing structures. This means your homes, restaurants and local businesses. An inefficient home is a large contributor, as is wood smoke from fireplaces. Homes with a lot of air leaks require longer and more frequent run times from furnaces and air conditioning. Uninsulated homes (very common in SLC) with poor windows and old doors are wasting energy and contributing to poor air quality in the valley. At Nomad Construction, I’ve set a goal to combat air quality through retrofitting our old, beautiful Salt Lake homes into more efficient living spaces. I can set up an energy audit which tests for the efficiency of your home, finds air leaks, assesses your insulation and windows, and tests the combustion of your appliances. From there I can point you toward measures to improve the efficiency! This could include sealing air gaps, improving weather sealing at doors and windows, installing better windows, and go as deep as possible into the energy use of your home. Need new siding? Instead of simply covering up your old siding, this is the perfect time to tear that old stuff off, properly insulate and waterproof your home, and side over that. These measures not only help with the local air quality, but they help with your energy bills. There’s a chance your improvements could pay for themselves down the road! Do you have solar panels? If they aren’t paying for all of your energy use, it’s most likely because your home is inefficient, let us help! Nomad Construction is dedicated to furthering our education into practices of creating less wasteful homes, have any questions? Just ask! I love this stuff.
