The Nomad Story
Nomad Builders was officially founded by Reed Rombough at a rest area in Colorado. For six years, Reed lived full-time in his 76 sq. ft. van, traveling across the country with a small trailer of tools. During this time, he repaired homes to fund his passion for outdoor adventure—hence the name Nomad. His dog, Sadey, accompanied him on the journey and became the company's logo.
Reed’s deep love for the outdoors has driven his commitment to building homes with a focus on sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of the construction industry. Every Nomad project prioritizes intentional material choices, energy efficiency, and the creation of high-quality, lasting products.
Now settled in the Salt Lake City area, Reed has grown Nomad Builders into a team of like-minded friends who share a passion for building and spending time outdoors.

The Nomad Team
-
Reed R. - Founder and Owner
As the founder of Nomad Builders, I have been working in the residential construction industry since 2014, unless you count the years I spent as a kid helping my grandfather build a lakehouse and remodel his home! Prior to Nomad, I gained experience working for remodelers and custom home builders in Colorado and South Dakota. After a life of near constant travel, I settled down in Salt Lake City in 2019 where Nomad Builders has been based ever since. I still regularly climb rock and ice, mountain bike, ski, and travel abroad for expeditions. I have an amazing wife and two dogs.
-
Berk F. - Field Operations Manager
I am a geologist turned home builder where I enjoy incorporating building science into builds and seeing how stoked customers are with our finished work. In my free time you can find me rock climbing, hiking and running, playing soccer, and hanging out with my partner and two dogs.
-
Caleb K. - Project Manager
Born and raised in the Midwest, I moved to Utah to finish school and explore the mountain west. After graduating, I spent over a decade in the marketing world before realizing I needed a change. The desire for more control over the product, the opportunity to make a local impact, and the excitement of a completely new industry were all factors that drew me to Nomad. When I’m not building for Nomad, you can find me climbing, skiing, or mountain biking with my two dogs and loving partner.
-
Carmel K. - Labor Technician
Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, I moved to Utah when I was 9 as a refugee and have been here ever since. I have always wanted to build stuff so I started my career in excavation before coming on board with Nomad Builders where I enjoy being a part of a group that strives for perfection. My favorite part of this work is seeing the end result and, more importantly, seeing a smile on the customer’s face. I love hanging out with my kids and taking them to the park, swimming, hiking, and just being outside in general.
-
Jamie M. - Construction Foreman
Born and raised in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, I moved to Utah in 2017 to recreate in bigger landscapes. I quickly found my way to a professional building career after studying Environmental Science and Energy Studies at Union College in Schenectady, NY. I yearned for an active and hands-on work experience. When not building, I’m spending time with my partner and their dogs, skiing, climbing, biking, camping, and exploring.

Ever G. - Construction Lead
Born in Guatemala City in 1990, I came to beautiful Utah in 2003. I began working construction in high school as an apprentice for an uncle during the summers which helped me develop an appreciation the trades. As a result, I have a wide variety of knowledge across all trades. I like construction because I enjoy the challenge of figuring out a problem and see it come to life as I build. It’s the same joy I get from my favorite hobby of painting and drawing. When I’m not creating master pieces, I enjoy playing soccer, and spending time with my dog Benzi outdoors.
